Transition Period for the ISO 22000:2018 Standard

The food safety management system ISO 22000:2005 is a priority for all organisations that produce, process, package, store or deliver food. The new version of the standard from 2018 was issued on 19.06.2018, whereby the old standard ISO 22000:2005 goes out of use. The aim of the new standard ISO 22000:2018 is to harmonise the requirements for food safety management at global level. The new standard contributes to ensuring food safety throughout the entire supply chain from farm to fork. The standard does not specify the specific criteria for food safety performance, nor does it specify the design of a management system.

Moving to the new standard - Transition from ISO 22000:2005 to ISO 22000:2018 The move to the new standard may be carried out during a recertification or surveillance audit. The new standard contains new and extended requirements which must be covered during the audit. This is an official requirement for all certification organisations and is imposed by the Accreditation body DAkkS. Once the move to the new standard has been carried out, the subsequent audits will be conducted at no additional cost. Transition period If your organisation currently holds an accredited ISO 22000:2005 certificate, the deadline for transition to the new standard ISO 22000: 2018 is 18.06.2021.

The transition to the new standard ISO 22000: 2018 may be carried out at a regular recertification or surveillance of your food safety management system. How can we help?
